Apple Sainte-Catherine Store Reopens: A Grand Celebration in Montreal (2026)

Apple's Grand Reopening: A Creative Celebration in Montreal

Apple has finally unveiled its newly relocated Sainte-Catherine store in Montreal, and the excitement is palpable! But here's where it gets controversial: this reopening has been a long time coming, with a journey that started back in 2024.

The initial plan was to complete the move by February 2025, but as we all know, sometimes even the best-laid plans can take a little longer. And so, on January 16, 2026, Apple Sainte-Catherine reopened its doors, and the response was nothing short of extraordinary.

To mark this special occasion, Apple shared a series of photographs capturing the essence of the grand opening. The star of the show? None other than Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's SVP of Retail and People, who was there to celebrate this momentous event.

"For almost two decades, we've been honored to be a part of the vibrant downtown Montreal community. Its creative spirit and innovative drive continue to inspire us," O'Brien shared. "We're thrilled to deepen our connection and create a space where our customers can fully immerse themselves in the Apple experience, from our cutting-edge products to the exceptional support of our dedicated team."

The new Apple Sainte-Catherine store is now housed in a historic building on the corner of Sainte-Catherine Street West and Rue de la Montagne. It's an expansion of the previous location, now boasting double the size and an abundance of unique features.

The photographs Apple released showcase a spacious and modern interior, with square columns adding a touch of architectural flair. The facade, crafted from local granite, pays homage to the city's rich history, while the restored cornice, a collaboration with local copper artisans, adds a contemporary twist.

Apple has also prioritized accessibility, offering wooden tables at various heights and carefully planned access routes to ensure wheelchair users can navigate the store with ease. At the back of the store, you'll find the Apple Pickup area and the iconic Genius Bar, where nearly 200 specialists, fluent in dozens of languages, are ready to assist.

And this is the part most people miss: Apple invited a very special guest for the opening. Montreal-based illustrator and designer Catherine Potvin took center stage, leading live iPad art demonstrations on Friday and Saturday. Potvin, who designed the Apple logo and various launch graphics, also illustrated retail bags for customers, adding a personal touch to their shopping experience.

But wait, there's more! Apple Sainte-Catherine isn't the only store of its kind. There's another one in Bordeaux, France, which adds an international twist to this already exciting story.

So, what do you think? Are you excited about Apple's creative approach to store openings? Do you think these artist collaborations add value to the customer experience? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
