A British family is in a desperate search for their seven-year-old daughter, Inaayah Makda, who went missing after being swept out to sea in Morocco while on holiday. The incident occurred on Wednesday night in Casablanca when a wave suddenly crashed onto the rocks, dragging Inaayah and other family members into the ocean. While other family members managed to return to the shore, Inaayah's whereabouts remain unknown.
Inaayah's father, Zubair Makda, described the harrowing moment when the wave swept them away. He was standing on rocks that were half a meter high when Inaayah was suddenly swept to the left, out of his sight. He couldn't find her, and they are now seeking help.
The situation has sparked concern and support from the local community. Blackburn MP Adnan Hussein has taken up the matter with UK authorities, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the Moroccan ambassador. He expressed his deep distress and sympathy for the family, stating that the entire town of Blackburn is praying for Inaayah and her loved ones.
A family member in the UK shared their worries with the Lancashire Telegraph, emphasizing the distressing nature of the situation. They revealed that the family was unaware of any potential dangers and were caught off guard by the sudden wave. Inaayah's parents are currently in Casablanca, where they are working with a private search operator to locate their daughter.
The FCDO has confirmed their support for the family and is in contact with local authorities. Moroccan authorities have been contacted for further comment on the incident.
