Four talented collegiate golfers from the state of Oregon, representing both the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, are gearing up to take part in one of the most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in the United States—the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
This year’s competition will feature three players from the Ducks and one from the Beavers, namely Kiara Romero, Karen Tsuru, and Prim Prachnakorn from Oregon, alongside Kyra Ly from Oregon State.
Scheduled to take place from April 1 to April 4 in Augusta, Georgia, this seventh annual tournament brings together an elite group of competitors, including the top twenty golfers based on the current World Amateur Golf rankings and an impressive forty-eight of the top fifty players.
Among these athletes, Kiara Romero stands out as a junior who currently holds the title of the number one women’s amateur golfer globally. She is also notable for her unique distinction of being the only two-time first-team All-American in the history of Oregon women's golf. Last year, she participated in the same tournament at Augusta and achieved an impressive tie for seventh place in 2025.
In the realm of rankings, Prim Prachnakorn is positioned at No. 30 while Karen Tsuru follows closely at No. 40 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, adding to the strong representation from Oregon.
Golf enthusiasts will be able to catch live coverage of the first two rounds of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur on the Golf Channel, airing from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM ET on April 1 and April 2. Following a practice round on April 3, viewers can tune into NBC Sports for three hours of the tournament’s final round on April 4, from noon to 3 PM ET.
This event not only showcases the exceptional skills of these young golfers but also highlights the growing prominence of women in the sport of golf at the amateur level.
