Leadership Update: A New Chapter for UCLA's Financial Leadership

Today, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in UCLA's history as we announce a leadership transition within our Office of the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer. Since May 2024, Steve Agostini has been a guiding force, steering UCLA's financial ship with unwavering dedication. However, as all great journeys must eventually come to an end, Steve has decided to step down from his role, effective immediately.
To ensure a seamless continuation of UCLA's financial stewardship, we are pleased to announce that Reem Hanna-Harwell, a seasoned leader and trusted colleague, will step into the role of interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer. Reem's extensive experience and deep understanding of UCLA's unique culture make her an ideal candidate to lead us through this transition. Her collaborative spirit and financial acumen will be invaluable assets as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer is a critical component of UCLA's infrastructure, responsible for safeguarding our financial resources and supporting our academic, research, and public service missions. As we embark on this new chapter, we are committed to finding a permanent leader who shares our vision and can guide UCLA's financial future with expertise and compassion.
In the coming months, a comprehensive national search will commence to identify and recruit a new Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer.
